My Education Link ("MyEduLink", "we", "us", or "our") operates the myedulink.net website and platform, connecting students, parents, instructors, and academies for online tutoring and courses. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have regarding your information. By creating an account or using MyEduLink, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account & profile information — name, email address, date of birth, country, profile photo, and role (Student, Instructor, Parent, or Academy). Date of birth is used to verify that Instructor and Academy accounts meet our minimum age requirement.
Authentication data — if you sign in with Microsoft or Google, we receive your name, email address, and account identifier from that provider. We do not receive or store your third-party password.
Payment information — subscription and course purchases are processed by our payment provider, PayPal. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; we retain only transaction metadata such as amount, date, and status.
Course & learning activity — courses you create, enroll in, or complete, lecture progress, uploaded documents, images, and videos, messages exchanged with other users, and live-session participation via our video providers (Zoom, Agora, and Twilio Video).
Parent–child data — where a Parent account is linked to a Student account, the parent may view that student's course activity and progress reports.
Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and usage data collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6).
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate your sign-in.
- To provide core platform features: course enrollment, live lectures, messaging, and progress tracking.
- To process payments, subscriptions, and promo code redemptions.
- To send service-related notifications (e.g. booking confirmations, schedule changes, account security alerts).
- To allow linked Parent accounts to monitor their child's learning activity.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To improve platform performance, reliability, and user experience.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Other users, as required by the service — e.g. an Instructor sees the name of a Student enrolled in their course; a Parent sees their linked child's activity.
- Service providers we rely on to operate the platform, including Microsoft Azure (hosting), Microsoft Entra ID and Google (authentication), PayPal (payments), and Zoom, Agora, and Twilio (live video and messaging).
- Legal and safety purposes — where required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyEduLink, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — if MyEduLink is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed to be used by minors under the supervision of a linked Parent account. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from a minor than is necessary to provide the tutoring service. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information outside of a supervised Parent-linked account, please contact us at support@myedulink.net so we can review and, if appropriate, delete that information.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.
6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect the availability of some features, such as staying signed in.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International Data Transfers
Our servers are hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure located in Canada. If you access MyEduLink from outside Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law — including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
- Withdraw consent to certain processing, where consent is the basis for that processing.
- Ask us how your information has been used or disclosed.
You can exercise most of these rights directly from your account settings, or by contacting us at support@myedulink.net. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app or email notification.
11. Contact Us
